Safe Sitter®

Safe Sitter® prepares students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting.

Students learn life-saving skills such as how to rescue someone who’s choking, and helpful information like what to do if there is severe weather. The lessons are filled with fun activities and role-playing exercises. Students will also get to use CPR manikins to practice CPR and choking rescue!

Class Essentials Includes:

Safety Skills 
Students learn how to prevent unsafe situations and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. 

Child Care Skills
Students learn tips to manage behavior that will help them stay in control of themselves and the children in their care. Students also learn the ages and stages of child development, as well as practice diapering.

First Aid and Rescue Skills
Learning skills such as choking rescue and CPR is often students’ favorite part of the class. Students also learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses.

Life & Business Skills
The ability to screen jobs, discuss fees, and greet employers will set students up for success now and in the future. Students practice these skills through various role plays.

Registration Information

We’re currently offering Safe Sitter Classes at Sibley Hospital for Sept and Oct of 2024 and will begin our offerings again in Jan-May of 2025. If you are interested in scheduling a private class in your home during November, please reach out to us using our contact form on this website.

For our Sibley classes, please use the online scheduling system under our “courses and scheduling” tab. See instructions below. We require a minimum of six students to hold a class.

Beat4LifeCPR requires advance payment to confirm a Safe Sitter registration. Cancellations made within 72 hours of the class date, will receive a 100% refund. If you have to cancel your class after 72 hours, we will offer you a credit to your account for a future class.

Pre-registration is required at least 48 hours in advance. Students should bring a bag lunch.

Step 1. Download the Safe Sitter® Course Registration Form for each class participant.

Step 2.  To register, go through the "Courses and Scheduling" tab on this website. This will generate an automated confirmation message from Schedulista, and additional invoicing details. You will also receive a confirmation email from beat4LifeCPR with additional class details and parking information.

Step 3. Bring the completed registration form with your student the day of the class. Students will not be permitted to attend class without completed form.
